Welcome to the UNOFFICIAL page for the NorthWood Academy. Here we will keep current information and student resources as up to date as possible. Students should access this page for forms, links, and other helpful information.
NWAA is committed to providing a non-traditional educational option for students who have struggled in traditional settings due to a variety of reasons. We embrace an educational philosophy that allows us to really work with the “whole student”. It is our hope that students that enter our door will leave with the social, emotional, and academic skills needed to allow them to be successful in all settings. We recognize that in order to have this we need a “continuous improvement model” to assure that all students are set up for success.
The Academy school day will be broken up into two half day segments 8:00am-11:00am and 12:00pm-3:00pm. Students are expected to adhere to the district wide dress code and rules set by the high school.
The Academy is currently using APEX online curriculum for all classes and will be transitioning for one or two years into a more complete alternative school setting. The transition goals will feature:

- Teachers with class sizes of no more than 15 students
- Self-paced learning that allows students to work at a pace that fits their needs and learning style.
- Work-based learning opportunities for juniors and seniors. (Apprenticeships or Internship opportunities)
- Coordinated leaning efforts with local business and industry.
